The West of Ireland

These photographs have been sitting unedited on my computer for easily a year and a half. These were taken the couple of days after I first got my DSLR, around my fourteenth birthday. They're not perfect, and the weather was pretty rubbish so that didn't help things either. They tell a story though.
It's fair to say that Ireland is a green place. Not in the towns, but if you take the car and go just a little  bit further you will happen upon sheep. For ages I denied to myself that there were sheep all over Ireland, but now having successfully gone to different places in each Provence, I can confirm that Ireland may as well be called sheepland. There are seriously sheep living beside beaches.
Ireland is a place filled with natural beauty. It's hard for me to attempt to capture it because I've not yet mastered the whole 'tourist in my own country' thing. However, the cliffs and fields and ruins and (rocky) beaches are fabulous. A lot of people here take pride in the fact that we have bogs. Personally, I think they're a bit manky. Don't kill me.

What do you like about the country you live in?

  1. I love this! Gorgeous photography.

I grew up in the west of Ireland and I always loved the rocky beaches and the sheep-covered mountains. Where I live now is completely bog-land. You get to like it! It's interesting being surrounded by fields full of horses, cows, and sheep. Horses got into our yard three times this week! :)

Again, I loved reading this post :)

    1. Thanks so much Hannah! I really am fond of the west myself. I still find it amazing (and this is to be said for wider Ireland too) that sheep seem to inhabit the land at every turn! That's so interesting actually, I'm sure it's a funny thing, although maybe not so funny when you're trying to 'remove' the animals! My cousins have a few horses behind their house which I think is quite charming, just a few horses from some other farmer they've probably never talked to! The perks of living in Ireland! X

  2. I have been wanting to go to Ireland for such a long time!!! Beautiful pictures!
One thing I love about France is... the Millefeuilles. It's a pastry. It's TO-DIE-FOR.

  3. You have hit me right in my travel feels. I want to live in Ireland more than anything (even though it would make more sense for me to live in France, since I'm learning French)

I live in the most boring country in the world (America) in the most boring state in the world. I am seriously the most unpatriotic person in the whole of creation. But, I guess the food is good sometimes.

    1. Thanks Hannah :) Ireland is always open! Well, ignoring documentation and immigration rubbish haha. I mean I myself am not in love with Ireland per say. I often overlook its worth and beauty, but at the end of the day I know I couldn't bring myself to live elsewhere! I love travelling though so I guess it balances it out somewhat? Speaking from experience I enjoyed America's (New York's) food myself! It's all about being tasty :)

  7. P.S to anyone wondering why IN THE WORLD I'm replying to these comments ridiculously late, I have minimal excuse. I try to make it a policy to always reply to comments and seem to have overlooked these entirely? Bad blogger!
